Quilt & Ericka's Kids

I finally finished my king-sized Jamestown quilt. It was quite a project but I'm so excited about it. I went to a quilt shop July 29th and quilted it on a long-arm quilting machine.
Iwent over to Mountain Home and took Ericka's kids to lunch. They are really growing up. Heather just turned 14, Jenny is 11, Nicole will be 10 on August 20th and Sean is 7.

Deanna's Graduation

Deanna graduated from Boise State University on May 16, 2009. It took her 19 years to get that diploma, but she did it and we are very proud of her! The family all went to The Melting Pot in Boise after the ceremony to celebrate.

Sunset and Flowers

I have a cactus that is very ordinary--most of the time--but once a year it has these beautiful, large pink & white flowers. The only problem is that they only bloom for about 2 days, and they start blooming in the evening, so I have to be pretty quick to catch them. This year I think we had the most flowers at one time--14! They start out as little fuzzy things and then gradually grow to be about 3-4 inches long and then the flower blooms on the end. This year I took pictures for a few days to show what it looks like in the process. I also took a pretty sunset in January and took some pictures of our greenhouse and Don's bamboo.

Race to Robie Creek

Yesterday was the race to Robie Creek and Deanna's husband, Greg, ran it. The race is a very popular 13.1 mile race with over 2,000 participants each year. The race starts at Fort Boise and ends over the mountain (Aldape Summit) to the Robie Creek Park. Greg did the race in 2 hours 5 minutes.
In 1992, Don, me, Deanna, Jim and Chuck did the race. I think Deanna and I did it in 3 hours 15 minutes--once is enough for me! The last hill is a killer!

Finally got to clean up and remove the bandages. Still quite sore, but am able to move around with less pain. I actually did some applique (hand sewing) today. You don't realize how much you do with your dominant arm until you can't use it!

Rotator cuff surgery

Well, Ihad my right rotator cuff repaired on February 19th. Stayed in the hospital overnight. Still not very mobile, but the pain is more manageable. Dad is a great caretaker! Hopefully the worst is over. I don't seem to be as bruised as last time. It is really interesting doing everthing with my left hand!
